Some jobs bring more equipment than our truck. At this Marion County home in March, a telehandler was working the driveway right beside the All Waste Dumpsters container, holding a plywood bin up near the roofline above the box. Space got tight fast.

The telehandler has to put its load over the open top without driving onto soft ground or into the oaks that hang over the drive. The truck that set the box had to leave room for all of that. Close enough that the machine can reach the open top from firm ground, and far enough from the house that its boom never swings near the eaves. On this driveway the box sat along the drive with its long side facing the telehandler, which worked from the pavement next to it.
That long side is the key. A roll off is open along its full length, so a machine working from the side has a wide target and can drop each load in a new spot instead of piling everything in one corner. Loading from the end works too, but it stacks debris on one side, and a lopsided container is harder to pull back onto our truck. Ground matters more with two machines. A telehandler carrying a load puts most of its weight on the front wheels, so it belongs on concrete or asphalt, not the lawn.

What happens to a container between rentals?
It comes back to our yard on NW 95th Street in Ocala and waits for its next delivery. The July photo shows one of them in the yard, sitting in the shade with another container lined up behind it.
The parts that take a beating get the attention. Doors and latches are opened and slammed on every single job, and a door that will not close tight is a real problem once the container is back on the road. Rails carry the full weight. How is a job with heavy equipment different for the homeowner?
Mostly it takes more coordination. The rental works the same way, but the timing between our truck, the contractor, and the machine matters more.
Get the box down before the machine shows up. Equipment like a telehandler is often rented by the day, and nobody wants it sitting idle while a dumpster is on the way, so the afternoon before or first thing that morning is the usual window. Pickup is the reverse. Wait until the machine is gone and the driveway is clear, so our truck can back straight in. Watch the trees as well, since the oaks over this drive were dropping leaves across the box and low limbs are a hazard for any boom.
