How do you load patio lumber so it all fits?
Flat and tight. Long boards go in lengthwise along the floor first, and the short, broken pieces fill the gaps on top, which is how this load finished level with the rail instead of heaped over it.
Old patio framing is awkward. Rafters come out still nailed to a ledger board, roof panels crack into sharp pieces, and a pile tossed in at random traps a lot of air. You are paying for that air. Cutting long pieces down and breaking up the framing before it goes in can buy you another full layer of space. Wear gloves and boots, because the nails are still in there. Keep it all under the MAXIMUM LOAD LEVEL sticker on the back rail. The green tarp on the lawn and the trash can beside the box stayed out of the dumpster, and that is fine. Anything above the rail has to come off before we can haul it.
